With just 35 days to go until the 3rd Annual Chorley 6 Hour Race, interest is picking up. The latest entrant we welcome to the event is our first international runner, Mariusz Kovacs from Hungary, currently living in Preston.
There are 16 runners on the starters list at this time – 9 men and 7 women which is an encouraging statistic – an almost equal split in the genders. Its a great percentage increase from even just a few years ago.

Online entry closure
Online entries close at 23:59 on Thursday 5th October 2017. You won’t be able to enter online after that time.

Right now we have plenty of room though Stan has been saying for some time he has a lot of people interested but who haven’t committed yet. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t – we just don’t know at this point.

Right now at the current rate of entries I would hazard a guess and say new entrants should be ok, even at that late stage but the field has a limit of 40 and that is final. That means that online registration closes whenever the field limit of 40 is reached. So those who haven’t signed up yet should keep an eye on the list.

Anyone wishing to volunteer in any capacity please get in touch with Stan (see below) – you’re help will be greatly appreciated.

I put some questions to Stan to clarify any thoughts people may have on these topics.

    1. Can runners/crew bring their own tents and set them up?
      A. Yes but we have enough under cover storage for runners kit etc, plus adequate tables and chairs for all runners (even if weather is inclement), situated around the small attractive race village.
    2. Is there a designated tent area?
      A. Yes, trackside.
    3. Will you be taking race day entries?
      A. Yes, dependent on how entries show between now and then.
    4. Will you have a waiting list in the event of the race selling out?
      A. Yes,  that would be a luxury in 2017.
    5. Would you offer a free entry for next years event to volunteers?
      A. Yes  if they so wished and contributed constructively previously to event. ie. staying for the whole event and helping marshall or at the Aid table. (Please contact Stan if you would like to volunteer:

Course Profile

Chorley 6 Hour Race – August News

Chorley 6 hour road race 2017This years Chorley 6 hour race looks set to be the most exciting yet. The third edition of this beautifully staged event in the grounds of Astley Park provides an ideal arena for novices and experienced ultrarunners to pit themselves against the clock on a fairly flat and fast loop.

So far 18 people have signed up (Sorry, I don’t have all the names at the moment) and this has already exceeded last years field and with two months to go there’s sure to be a good crowd on October 7th.

We are very grateful for the continued support of our sponsors and the runners who share our enthusiasm for grass roots ultrarunning.
